Position Overview
As a Lead Data and AI Engineer, you will be pivotal in shaping the technical strategy and architecture for enterprise-level data and AI platforms. These platforms are essential for driving innovative data products, analytics, and AI solutions. You will utilize your expertise in planning, designing, developing, and troubleshooting both new and existing data pipelines. By championing best practices in data and AI engineering—including the design of idempotent, modular pipelines and implementation of automated testing, CI/CD, and data quality checks—you will foster an environment of excellence. You will also mentor junior engineers, guiding them through design processes, code reviews, and Agile frameworks to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead a diverse team of business and IT professionals, ensuring a balance between rapid feature delivery and long-term platform integrity. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Architecting, building, and maintaining scalable batch and streaming data pipelines on the Snowflake Data Platform.
• Designing and implementing ML/GenAI solutions using cloud services (AWS, Azure, Snowflake Cortex).
• Enforcing standards for data quality, observability, and lineage while employing modern data modeling practices.
• Integrating biotech systems (MES, LIMS, SCADA, ERP, QMS) into a centralized data platform.
• Collaborating with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align engineering solutions with business objectives.
• Enabling advanced AI use cases and ensuring continuous monitoring for potential issues.
• Optimizing storage and compute resources for improved efficiency.
• Working with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with GxP and data privacy regulations.
• Leading design reviews and cross-team forums to enhance architectural coherence.
• Staying updated on emerging technologies and integrating relevant innovations into our practices.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML Engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in data/software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or cloud platform engineering.
• Strong expertise in Python and SQL.
• Extensive experience in developing data pipelines using modern frameworks.
• Solid background in data modeling for analytics and AI.
• Proven track record with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with biotech or life sciences systems and compliance regulations.
Preferred Experience and Skills
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) is a plus.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure) are favored.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Expertise in data quality management and governance.
• Strong communication abilities, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A passion for continual learning and adoption of innovative technologies.
The salary range for this role is $146,000 to $241,000, which may vary depending on your location and relevant experience.
