Role and Responsibilities
• Assist with recruiting and staffing activities.
• Support store merchandising through staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise.
• Ensure merchandise is presented according to company practices and store manager direction.
• Utilize merchandise fixtures, signing, and pricing appropriately.
• Assist in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scanning, and facility controls.
• Prepare and conduct store inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and act as a role model by following company policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds in designated bank.
• Maintain financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to security practices.
• Help maintain a clean, well-stocked store and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, opportunities, and potential issues.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation on time and according to guidelines.

Required Skills and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, diagrams, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and understand cash handling procedures.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of facility, cash, and safety control policies.
• Understanding of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including compliance with applicable laws.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Problem-solving ability in situations with limited standardization.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred at certain store locations.

Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Experience acting as a liaison between field operations and support teams.
• Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop staff.
• Knowledge of retail operations including ordering cycles, merchandise flow, and staffing needs.
