Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Front Office Trading

Location: New York, NY

Compensation: $200,000 – $600,000 Total Compensation

We are supporting a leading multi-strategy hedge fund in the search for a Site Reliability Engineer to join its front-office trading technology team in New York.

This role is embedded directly within the trading environment and is focused on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical, low-latency systems across global markets. The successful candidate will combine deep Linux systems expertise with strong Python engineering capability to design automation, enhance observability, and strengthen production infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain reliability frameworks for front-office trading platforms
• Develop robust Python-based automation and operational tooling
• Improve monitoring, logging, and tracing across distributed systems
• Lead incident response efforts and conduct detailed root cause analysis
• Partner with traders, portfolio managers, and engineering teams to optimise execution workflows
• Tune and optimise performance across Linux-based environments
• Contribute to infrastructure architecture and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Experience
• Experience supporting or engineering trading systems within financial markets
• Deep expertise in Linux/Unix systems engineering
• Advanced proficiency in Python, with experience building production-grade tools and applications
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and performance optimisation
• Experience working with SQL databases
• Knowledge of trading workflows and market structure
• Familiarity with FIX protocol
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have
• Experience in commodities or fixed income trading environments
• Experience building internal reliability tooling or infrastructure platforms
