Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller — Luxury Retailer (NYC)

On-site | $120K + monthly stipend

A privately held, multi‑location luxury retailer with a 40+ year heritage is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee day‑to‑day financial operations across its New York headquarters, and additional U.S. locations. Known for its exceptional curation of rare, high-value pieces from iconic maisons such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, David Webb, and others, this family-owned business operates with a deep commitment to trust, discretion, and long-term relationships.

This is a key role for a detail‑driven accounting professional who thrives in a boutique environment and enjoys being deeply embedded in daily operations. You’ll support leadership with financial clarity, daily cash visibility, and structured reporting, while partnering closely with long-tenured team members who manage inventory and invoicing. A third‑party CPA firm handles tax filings, sales tax, and compliance; you will serve as the internal liaison.

The role also includes managing certain personal financial matters for ownership, requiring the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.

What You'll Do:
• Daily cash reconciliation and cash flow visibility
• Full monthly close across multiple entities
• AP/AR, vendor payments, and bank reconciliations
• Weekly and monthly reporting for leadership
• Coordination with external CPA firm for tax filings and compliance
• Inventory and consignment reconciliation (intake handled by internal team)
• COGS accuracy, margin reporting, and valuation support
• Personal bill payments and financial tracking for ownership

What You'll Need:
• 5–10+ years in accounting, family office, small business, or multi‑entity environments
• Highly organized, detail‑driven, and reliable
• Comfortable in a boutique, non‑corporate setting
• Discreet, trustworthy, and steady under pressure
• Skilled in QuickBooks (Desktop/Online) and Excel
• Experience with inventory-heavy or luxury goods businesses is a plus

Compensation
• $100,00 - $120,000 salary
• $600 monthly stipend for benefits (please note, medical/dental/vision is not offered)
• PTO
• On-site role, 5 days/ week
