Job description

Join Johns Hopkins APL to develop and assess U.S. defense systems through simulation, analysis, and innovative concept development.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:
• Contributing to the development and assessment of U.S. Defense systems.
• Modeling, analyzing, and performing assessments of fielded systems to identify improvement opportunities.
• Proposing and developing innovative concepts and algorithms to enhance capabilities.
• Conducting analysis to assess potential future systems performance, including parametric analyses using high-performance computing.
• Developing prototype capabilities and working with real-world systems to transition ideas to fielded capabilities.
• Creating presentations to communicate technical recommendations to APL leadership, government sponsors, and the engineering community.
• Participating in collaborative teams and activities, upholding core values of continual improvement, innovation, and high-quality product development.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who:
• Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Mathematics, or similar degrees.
• Are skilled in programming, analysis, math, and physics.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Can obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately a Top Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Preferred qualifications include:
• Proficiency in MATLAB or another high-level language, especially with Object Oriented Programming and Event Driven Simulations.
• Domain knowledge of Missile Defense Agency, Space Force, Army, Navy systems, and/or relevant internship experience.
• Strong background in RF and IR systems, signal processing, communications systems, and algorithm development.
• Possession of a final Secret or Top Secret clearance.

Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $85,000 to $165,000 annually, prorated for part-time employees.
• Potential bonuses, sign-on bonuses, relocation benefits, locality allowance, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
