Agentic AI Principal Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer, Agentic AI for a hybrid contract position with a client located in Sunnyvale, CA. This role requires significant expertise in Agentic AI development, AI agents, LLM applications, and distributed systems at scale to be considered. You will lead Agentic AI solutions and contribute hands‑on across design, architecture, and deployment of AI‑powered experiences for the NG‑SIEM product group. This team handles billions of events and petabytes of data daily, making scalability and reliability critical.

Pay/Salary Range: This position pays $115 – $160 per hour.

Principal Backend Engineer, Agentic AI job responsibilities include:

• Lead Agentic AI solution design, including sophisticated AI agents and fine‑tuning/integration with models

• Play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying AI applications using LLMs and Agentic frameworks

• Collaborate with enterprise teams to integrate LLM models and deliver on roadmap commitments

• Mentor engineering team members to grow AI/Agentic expertise

• Define benchmarks and metrics to evaluate agent and framework performance

• Stay up to date with advancements in AI, LLMs, and Agentic technologies and apply improvements

• Tackle highly complex engineering challenges requiring deep technical evaluation

• Troubleshoot, isolate, and fix issues across all stages of software development, including production

• Leverage advanced technical expertise to support tactical and strategic business decisions

• Advise leadership to influence long‑term AI development strategies

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: Any of the following — 15+ years with B.S., 12+ years with M.S., or 10+ years with PhD in a related field

• Experience: 6+ years leading and building SaaS/hybrid‑cloud applications in large orgs or startups

• 3+ years working with Agentic AI platforms (Microsoft Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, OpenAI, etc.)

• Strong programming in Python, Go, Scala, or Java, with distributed systems experience

• Demonstrated experience in cloud platform development (APIs, databases, serverless architectures)

• Proven expertise with algorithms, distributed systems, and software development lifecycle

• Experience designing hybrid cloud apps with load balancing, microservices, and network architecture considerations

• Proven ability to work effectively with remote teams

Bonus: Security industry experience
