• Perform structural welding on vital shipyard assemblies such as frames, decks, bulkheads, and foundations.
• Utilize SMAW (Stick), FCAW, or MIG welding methods to work with carbon steel and stainless steel based on project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings with precision.
• Prepare materials through grinding, fitting, and cleaning before the welding process.
• Ensure weld quality meets strict shipyard and inspection standards.
• Work safely in various environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
• Collaborate effectively with shipfitters and production teams to adhere to project schedules. Qualifications:
• Previous experience in shipyard or heavy structural welding is preferred.
• Ability to pass required structural weld tests.
• Experience with carbon steel welding; stainless steel knowledge is a bonus.
• Capability to read blueprints and understand welding symbols.
• Physically able to lift 50 lbs and maintain standing positions for long durations.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety practices in shipyard settings.
