Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is hiring full-time Resident Dining Aides. No prior experience is required for most positions; we will provide training.
Brethren Village provides competitive pay rates and $1.00 extra per hour for weekend work. Dining Aides have every other weekend off, and no late night work hours.
Dining Aides (Dietary Aides) set-up dining areas; deliver and serve meals to our older adult Residents, including Residents with physical or cognitive limitations; assist and interact with Residents during mealtimes; keep assigned dining areas clean and sanitary; work cooperatively with nursing staff; and provide service in a friendly, helpful, and safe manner.
Applicants with a high school diploma or G.E.D. and at least 1 year of prior experience as a Dietary Aide, and who are able to work during the day, year-round, may be hired as a Lead Resident Dining Aide at $17.00 per hour. Brethren Village provides Lead Dining Aides an additional $1.00 per hour for weekend work. Lead Dining Aides help train, guide, and coordinate the work of other Dining staff.
Dining Aides must be able to carry trays, push carts, stand and walk frequently during their shift, follow safe food handling protocols, and work independently.
Work Schedules
Applicants must be able to work every other weekend and holiday, and during the week.
• Full-time, benefits-eligible, 40 hours per week, year-round: typical work schedules are 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., 10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., or 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.; weekdays plus every other weekend and every other holiday (every other weekend and holiday off)
Requirements
Core Requirements:
• a high school diploma or G.E.D.
• basic computer skills: the ability to access and navigate web sites, and use software, apps, and databases independently
• the ability to complete online training independently
• dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
• attention to safety: ability and willingness to consistently work in a safe and alert manner, and to report to work fit for duty; commitment to wearing protective equipment as required for the position and adhering to all health and safety standards
• commitment to treating each Resident, Team Member, and member of the Brethren Village community with respect
Additional Requirements for this Position:
• effective interpersonal and communication skills: must be comfortable initiating and maintaining mealtime conversations with older adult Residents; must be comfortable engaging with Residents with dementia or other cognitive impairment
• ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
• willingness to complete all assigned work in an effective and efficient manner, working collaboratively with others
• must be willing and able to work in a safe and hygienic manner at all times, consistently following Brethren Village protocols and sound food-safety practices
• the ability to push and pull up to 50 lbs. (carts), and lift up to 25 lbs. (trays); must be able to stand and walk frequently during the shift
• the ability to work as scheduled, including every other weekend and holiday
