Summary:

Celularity is seeking an Associate Director Engineering to join our facilities operations team in Florham Park, NJ. The incumbent is responsible for performing highly diversified duties required to operate and maintain facilities mechanical systems including boilers, HVAC systems (air handlers/chillers/humidifiers/AC units/exhaust systems/associated controls), compressed air, bulk gas systems, generators, electrical, plumbing, etc. This position includes managing/ supervising staff level building engineers/mechanics as well as critical oversight of contractors. The position also provides first response technical support and planning to maximize equipment uptime, evaluating equipment failures while analyzing performance and being involved in design improvements to increase the reliability of our assets. This position will also include conducting Preventive Maintenance (PMs) and repair of various facilities systems as well as supervising and overseeing contractors to ensure proper performance and quality workmanship that meets our scheduling milestones and budget limits.
• Manage, lead and develop staff building mechanics and engineers in the preventive and corrective maintenance of all facility systems to sustain and improve overall facility uptime and safety objectives.
• Oversee external service providers for equipment maintenance, HVAC, etc.
• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve mechanical equipment and components.
• Maintain boilers, compressors, vacuum pumps, HVAC systems, humidifiers, etc.
• Utilize our asset management software to document proper maintenance of equipment, identify equipment problems, obtain parts, document findings, track labor hours and material on jobs, capture repair history, etc.
• Support and supervise after-hours response to emergencies and take appropriate action to identify problems and take corrective actions.
• Review, execute and approve work orders, logs, forms and related documentation on a daily basis to ensure they are complete, current, and reflect the tasks as performed, and are appropriately filed in.
• Recommend and assist in executing facility expansions and improvement projects through effective project oversight and cost control.
• Promote working safely, conducting inspections, resolve conflicts to protect employees’ health and wellbeing.
• Adhere to budget in areas of facility expenditures
• Provide engineering support, technical expertise and problem solving to all departments.
• Provide technical expertise and recommendations for facility improvements.
• Gather and analyze data, blueprints, and reports.
• Analyze condition, troubleshoot failures, perform facility and infrastructure repairs.
• Manage, lead, and develop facilities mechanics and building engineers.
• Utilize Siemens Building and Environmental Management to investigate alarms and resolve any related systems issues to maintain proper environmental controls in regulated pharmaceutical cleanroom environments.
• Comply with relevant regulations, building codes and EHS standards.
• Collaborate and support other departments within Celularity for special projects as necessary.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment adhering to all relevant safety and environmental compliance requirements as well as participating as a member of the facility emergency response team (ERT).

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
• Ten (10) years overall technical experience with minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a pharmaceutical cGMP environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, Environmental or Occupational Health Sciences, or a related field required (or equivalent degree with experience)
• NJ Building Operating Engineer License and/or Black Seal license
• Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Ability to communicate, both written and oral, technical information to a diverse audience
• Possess good documentation skills

This position will require:
• Weekend work/Off Hour Response
• Working overtime
• Working on holidays as needed

Physical Work Abilities and Requirements:

This position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead, including:
• Frequent physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Using ladders up to 20 ft and working from heights.
• Climbing a ladder and work from lift
• Must pass background, drug/alcohol screening.
