Position Overview

As a Kafka Engineer Tech Lead, you will design, build, and support event-driven and automation platforms using Confluent Kafka, AWS AMQ, BMC Control-M, and Google Apigee. You’ll guide technical strategy, lead engineers, promote best practices, and collaborate with teams to ensure resilient and scalable enterprise solutions.

Your Impact

  • Lead technical expertise for Confluent Kafka and support AWS AMQ, BMC Control-M, and Google Apigee; establish platform standards and drive feature adoption.
  • Mentor engineers, review code, make architectural choices, and encourage team development.
  • Align business needs with technical solutions by collaborating with stakeholders and assessing third-party tools.
  • Ensure reliability with monitoring, alerts, automation, and swift incident response.
  • Improve processes, promote best practices, and foster learning of new technologies.
  • Keep documentation up-to-date and ensure compliance with security and regulations.
  • Provide 24/7 support for engineering tool reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years in platform engineering/infrastructure, including 2+ years in technical leadership.
  • Proven expertise with large-scale Confluent Kafka and/or AWS AMQ deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with BMC Control-M for enterprise automation and orchestration.
  • Strong background in API management (preferably Google Apigee), including API security and analytics.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS cloud architecture and hybrid-cloud integration.
  • Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Skilled in Python and Java programming/scripting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Confluent, AWS) highly valued.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $146,000 - $218,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
