About this Role

Consertus is seeking a Project Manager II (FS51 Assistant Project Manager) to support the LAX Replacement Fire Station 51 project under LAWA's LAMP program. This role reports to the FS51 Project Manager and assists in managing the project's scope, schedule, budget, and GMP development, while also supporting the Design Manager in coordinating with stakeholders and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

FS51 is a Progressive Design-Build project that requires timely decision-making, strong collaboration with the Design-Build team, and confident coordination within an active operating airport environment.

Key Identifiers for Success

  • Strong understanding and experience in Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build delivery
  • Ability to lead and coordinate stakeholders in a complex operating environment (aviation/public facilities)
  • Demonstrated capability managing projects to schedule certainty and budget delivery
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills (LAFD, LAWA facility/technology groups, operations, interfacing projects)
  • Knowledge of design and construction contracting methodologies and project lifecycle from concept through closeout
  • Ability to develop KPIs and executive-ready governance materials and recommendations

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Project Manager, the FS51 Assistant Project Manager supports execution of responsibilities including:

Project Leadership & Delivery Support

  • Serve as part of the owner's representative team directing and managing project delivery
  • Support scope development and ongoing scope management to meet project objectives
  • Assist with GMP development and trade procurement oversight
  • Help ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget, per contractual obligations
  • Support coordination of technical, fiscal, and administrative functions for the project
  • Assist with identification and resolution of complex design, operational, and constructability issues
  • Conduct field surveys/investigations to confirm conditions and support informed decisions

Design & Permitting Support

  • Support oversight of the Design Manager and design process through design and construction
  • Assist with tracking and timely processing of RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and design nonconformances
  • Support permitting coordination and stakeholder/AHJ interface activities
  • Participate in design review activities, including significant design changes during construction

Construction Oversight & Controls

  • Assist with planning, phasing, milestone tracking, and construction coordination
  • Help identify risks and obstacles impacting construction efficiency; support mitigation plans
  • Support QA/QC adherence and implementation of quality assurance processes
  • Assist with review of change proposals for contractual compliance and fair market alignment
  • Support review of pay applications for verification of completed work and contract compliance
  • Support preparation of progress and status reporting for senior leadership
  • Assist in maintaining strong safety culture and construction practices above industry standards

Risk, Reporting & Closeout

  • Support risk management efforts and help prepare monthly risk reporting for program governance
  • Participate in coordination meetings with designers, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Support closeout planning and execution to ensure timely completion of documentation and efficient project closeout

Minimum Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience delivering projects >$40M
  • Demonstrated experience with Design-Build, specifically Progressive Design-Build
  • Proven performance in a management capacity with strong communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or related technical field (required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Proficiency in Project Management / Project Controls software

Preferred Qualifications

  • DBIA certification strongly preferred
  • Other preferred credentials may include: PMP, PE, LEED, AAAE, AICP, or other relevant licenses/certifications

Working Hours & Location: Full-time and exempt role

  • Full-time onsite at LAWA office and/or LAX project site.
  • (Monday-Friday 8:00 AM -5:00 PM).

Compensation Range: $141,440 - $147,680 annually; Eligible for Bonus.
