Position Description & Qualifications
As a member of the Joint Staff J7 team, the selected candidate will be part of the database team to provide the primary capability for the conceptualization and development of Order of Battle (OOB) databases and OOB Scenarios (OBS) for military Models and Simulations (M&S) used in computer-assisted joint and combined exercises and rehearsals. Additionally, the candidate will be required to cross-train in M&S federation management and model operations.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain and transfer DoW Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance.
In This Role, You Will
- Design, plan, develop, implement, maintain, and administer M&S databases.
- Compile M&S databases to synchronize, test, and facilitate continuous improvements to military M&S systems and to support version release certification.
- Identify, develop, and maintain parametric data for M&S databases.
- Maintain and reconcile entity class lists for simulation federation partners and verify and validate the integrity of systems and objects in the Exercise Datasets (EDS).
- Conduct research of military units, organization, equipment, and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) using classified and unclassified sources.
- Translate real and fictional friendly and enemy force structures and associated objects into M&S databases.
- Analyze and determine information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, data output and reporting capabilities, and exercise database performance.
- Apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications as enablers to database development processes.
- Cross-train for M&S federation management and model operations to provide surge support during exercise execution events when required.
- Participate in shift change briefs, mission updates, and team coordination meetings.
- Assist with recurring operational reviews, quality assurance checks, and continuous watchfloor improvements.
- Prepare M&S database development instructional materials and provide training in M&S database development.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
- An Active DoW Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain a Top Secret (TS) clearance.
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college in Information Systems Management, Computer Systems Analysis, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics or related field preferred.
- or Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
- Military staff experience and knowledge on military systems, equipment, TTP, and doctrine.
- Knowledge and use of computer coding, macro development, and/or use of AI for enabling the development of relational scenarios.
- Operational Requirements:
- The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays in support of 24/7 operations and mission events, when required.
- The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-tempo environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
- The ability to travel occasionally in support of exercise planning (25%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with Joint Training Data Services (JTDS) toolset.
- Write and read program code to locate errors in scenario databases.
- Direct experience working with and knowledge in one or more of the following models and their parametric databases: Air Force Synthetic Environment for Reconnaissance and Surveillance/Multiple Unified Simulation Environment (AFSERS/MUSE); Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS); JCATS Low Overhead Driver (JLOD); Joint Deployment Logistics Model (JDLM); Joint Theater Level Simulation (JTLS); and real world systems such as the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) and Theater Battle Management Core System (TBMCS)/Kessel Run All Domain Operating System (KRADOS).
- Use of the Microsoft 365 applications and environments.
- Experience as an Instructor in a training environment.
- Current TS/SCI clearance.
