Position Summary

The Student Assistant will work as a member of a team to support the Dean's Office of the School of Business and Leadership. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in the performance of the functions of the Dean's Office of the School of Business and Leadership; performing general office and clerical tasks; assisting with events hosted by the Dean's Office of the School of Business and Leadership; entering and tracking data; sorting, organizing, and filing documents; and staffing the office as needed.

Education/Experience

Currently enrolled Stevenson University student in good standing with the University academically and judicially, SBL students preferred. Student must have at least a 2.5 GPA. Experience working in an office preferred. FERPA training is required and provided.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability

  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Organized with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office preferred. Database management, website development, and other computer skills are valued.
  • Proficiency in Canva preferred.
  • Commitment to integrity, excellence, learning, and community.
  • High levels of self-motivation, flexibility, critical thinking and visual acuity, with strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge of and experience assisting with creating and working on electronic newsletters.
  • Ability to suggest and implement creative means to display BSOBL information. FERPA training, required and provided Physical Requirements

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Standing and/or sitting, walking, keyboarding, talking and hearing is required. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal is required.

Essential Functions

  • Greet visitors at the reception desk.
  • Develop an effective working knowledge of the structure and function of the Dean's Office of the School of Business and Leadership.
  • Perform general clerical and office support functions that include, but are not limited to, maintaining databases, filing, scanning, typing, faxing, running errands, shredding, and copying.
  • Operate basic office equipment (e.g., computer)
  • Communicate to supervisor on project development, timelines, and results.
  • Assist with management of the BSOBL website and social media accounts.
  • Assist with projects, planning, promoting, and hosting of events.
  • Assist with admissions events, including preparing materials and attending open houses and accepted students' days.
  • Support admissions outreach by preparing welcome letters and/or post cards for newly accepted BSOBL students.
  • Maintain building upkeep by performing daily walkthroughs and weekly room checks, submitting work orders as needed.
  • Monitor inventory by conducting weekly inventory checks and informing the supervisor what items need to be re-ordered.
  • Complete FERPA training and maintain strict confidentiality regarding all aspects of the position.
