AECOM is seeking a Senior Rail Operations Project Lead to support NY Metro.
The position includes responsibility for business development, stakeholder engagement, management of rail modeling projects/tasks, provide operational expertise to review and ensure feasibility in preliminary design and final design of rail infrastructure projects including intercity rail, regional/commuter rail, freight rail and high-speed rail. Clients can include Departments of Transportation, public rail agencies, railroads, Amtrak, private operators and more. This position will be required to examine constructability, staging and phasing of construction projects with a focus on operational continuity to ensure customer satisfaction. The successful candidate may be asked to serve as an AECOM team and/or discipline lead, project manager and/or technical task leader on selected projects and will coordinate, cooperate, and work collaboratively with others within multiple AECOM regions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide constructability and operational reviews during all project phases
· Oversee railway modeling including high level runtime and detailed rail network simulation
· Interfaces with clients including railroads, passenger rail agencies and modelers
· Translates client goals into deliverable modeling tasks
· Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
· Identifies discrepancies in results.
· Provides guidance to modelers/analysts
· Interpret and advise on modeling logic and railroad operating rules as necessary
· Verify modeling outputs results are realistic and client aligned
· Characterize modeling results into clear, digestible reports and presentations
· Coordinate and iterate with other rail planning disciplines including design teams
· Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
· Performance at this level requires extensive experience in a professional, executive capacity.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor's Degree + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including 2 years of leadership roles and executive-level positions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· 25+ years of relevant experience including Executive level positions
· Experience with NY Metro Transit Clients
· Experience working in railroad Transportation departments including dispatching and field management positions
· Experience in railroad service design both scheduling and capacity planning
· Familiarity with rolling stock and maintenance requirements including passenger and freight equipment
· Familiarity with rail infrastructure such as track and signal systems
· Experience with business development and client relations
· Previous qualifications on the rules of the Operating department, physical characteristics and associated requirements of an operating department
· Experience reviewing rail simulation modeling software outputs including Rail Traffic Controller (RTC), Viriato, and/or equivalent
· Familiarity with passenger rail-sponsoring agencies (DOT’s, rail authorities, Amtrak, etc)
· Demonstrate leadership skills and cross-discipline communication experience required for client interaction
· Ability to lead and manage various multi-disciplined teams is essential to this role
