Registered Nurse

Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a professional and multi-disciplinary team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the PACU, Surgical Day Care and Pre-Admission Clinic.

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
• ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing.
• PALS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing. 
• Recent Surgical Day Care nursing experience required. 
• Two years of PACU nursing experience required.
• Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required.
• Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred.
• Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required.
• Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.   
• Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias
• Strong patient assessment skills essential
• Must possess excellent decision making & critical thinking skills
• Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
• Caring attitude with patients, families and co-workers.
• Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.

Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating shifts-- Days and Evenings -- 7.5 hour shifts; 0600-1400, 0630-1430, 0700-1500, 0800-1600, 0900-1700, 1000-1800, 1100-1900, 1500-2300. On call PACU shifts scheduled  (hours subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary: $40.24 to $57.68 per hour
