Position Overview
At T. Rowe Price—a premier global asset management organization with over 85 years of experience—you’ll join a dynamic team driving innovative AI and analytics to power better investment decisions. As a Senior AI Data Scientist, you’ll lead end‑to‑end projects from discovery to production, working cross-functionally with top talent in our New York City office or our new Baltimore, MD location. This role is ideal for a curious problem solver who values collaboration, mentorship, and making a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the full data & model lifecycle – from problem framing, exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, modeling, evaluation to deployment and monitoring.
- Develop production solutions in Python (pandas, PySpark) on Databricks, leveraging tools such as Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, and Workflows/Jobs with CI/CD best practices.
- Employ automated testing for code, data, and models (unit tests, data validation, drift/bias checks) to ensure repeatable pipelines.
- Identify and address data/model technical debt by improving schemas, data contracts, and optimizing performance/cost.
- Deliver well‑defined work items by clarifying requirements through thoughtful questions and proposals while mentoring team members and leading code/design reviews.
- Own the quality, maintainability, security, governance, and total cost of ownership of the solutions delivered.
- Shape elements of the data/ML platform strategy and drive execution within your domain while balancing strategic and pragmatic concerns.
Required Qualifications
- BS/MS in a quantitative field (CS, Statistics, Applied Math, Engineering, Economics) or equivalent with 5+ years in data science/ML.
- Experience with automated pipelines, testing for data/models, and full model lifecycle management (registry, versioning, monitoring).
- Solid understanding of cloud‑native architectures, particularly AWS.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to ask incisive questions and align diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI/GenAI (LLMs, RAG, prompt design/evaluation).
- Strong Python and Spark expertise with hands‑on experience in Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, Jobs/Workflows).
- Experience with time‑series, NLP, and BI/analytics tooling (Databricks SQL, Tableau/Power BI, dbt).
- A solid understanding of financial markets and instruments.
- Commitment to quality via unit/integration tests, data validation, documentation, and code review.
Benefits & Perks
- Base Salary: Ranges vary by location – Maryland/Colorado/Washington/Remote: $118,000.00 - $202,000.00; Washington, D.C.: $130,000.00 - $222,000.00; New York/California: $148,000.00 - $253,000.00. Placement is based on relevant experience and skills.
