Summary:

The mission of the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) supports current and prospective UT College of Liberal Arts (COLA) students by providing necessary resources, programs, and services that help students connect to the College community, build important self-advocacy skills, and develop essential career and life skills.

Located in OSE, the Foundation Scholars Program (FSP) is an academic transitional program that strives to educate, empower, and equip students with the knowledge and tools for success and to foster student excellence. FSP is a community of outstanding, high-achieving, and high-potential first-year students.

Reporting to the FSP Program Manager, the Graduate Assistant will provide support to FSP students and staff in the following ways:

Job Responsibilities:

· Create professional development resources, workshops, and trainings as needed

· Support with mentor check-ins by conducting 1:1 meetings and evaluating data

· Serve on the FSP scholarship committee each fall and spring semester

· Manage and create content for LinkedIn platform to engage with FSP alumni

· Identify student staff needs and develop appropriate programming

· Design LA 113P syllabus with the Program Manager

· Manage LA 113P Canvas platform

· Assess student learning and program effectiveness

· Support program events as needed

Hours and Compensation:

· Graduate Assistant will be paid $19 per hour. The total amount of hours worked on a weekly basis must not exceed 20 hour.

· This position may allow students to qualify for in-state tuition

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree and currently enrolled in a Master’s program. Experience with supporting undergraduate students and ability to work collaboratively with students, administration, and external stakeholders. A commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.

· Required minimum enrollment of at least nine hours during the Fall and Spring Semesters and at least three hours during the Summer Semester.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in higher education/student affairs, social work, or related field.

· Experience in student-facing work.

Working Conditions:

· Work continuously in a busy, high student traffic environment with frequent interruptions.

· Extensive student traffic in busy office environment.

· Must be able to maintain punctual and regular attendance.

· Working around and with standard office equipment.

· Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

· Occasional evening or weekend work will be required.

· Remote work may be allowed up to 4 hours per week.
