The Business Project Advisor is responsible for managing and supporting business projects and operational tools, with a primary focus on VERA and additional responsibility for Excel‑based standalone tools. The role supports the full lifecycle of business solutions, including requirements definition, development activities, testing support, implementation, and ongoing operational support.

This position partners with business teams, IT, and production support to ensure tools are stable, well‑documented, and aligned with business processes. The Advisor contributes to incremental improvements in change management efficiency, including documentation, version control, testing coordination, and release readiness.

Primary Responsibilities

VERA / Excel Standalone Tools Support

  • Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of VERA as well as additional Excel‑based standalone tools used in the Cigna Healthcare US Employer business Sales Underwriting and Pricing process
  • Coordinate enhancements, fixes, and updates to Excel‑based business tools in partnership with technical teams as needed
  • Validate functionality through testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Provide operational support, including issue tracking, analysis, and resolution coordination
  • Provide production support by investigating defects, identifying root cause, and implementing fixes in partnership with technical teams
  • Support change governance activities, including intake/triage, risk/impact assessment, and scheduling across stakeholders
  • Update user guides and operating procedures and coordinate knowledge transfer to ensure changes are adopted and supported

Change Management & Process Improvement

  • Support adherence to established change management and release practices
  • Assist with documentation, version tracking, and implementation readiness activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls within owned tools
  • Coordinate release communications, cutover checklists, and post‑release validation with business and technical partners
  • Maintain clear requirements, test evidence, using standard templates in Jira
  • Track and report key change metrics (defects, rework, cycle time) to inform continuous improvement and control enhancements

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of work experience in actuarial science, underwriting, business analytics or related field required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting business projects or moderately complex operational/production tools strongly required
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and VBA, including complex workbooks and business logic
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, Oracle APEX, and SQL Server to support business requirements across multiple systems and applications
  • Experience coordinating requirements, testing, and implementation activities
  • Working knowledge of change management and project lifecycle practices
  • Ability to work independently within established processes and standards
