Position Summary
The Reservoir Engineering Technician supports upstream oil and gas engineering operations by collecting, validating, analyzing, and visualizing large datasets related to reserves, production, drilling, economics, and operating costs. This role partners closely with engineering, geology, land, accounting, and IT teams to ensure data accuracy and deliver insights that improve operational performance and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the Aries reserves and economics database
- Gather, validate, and reconcile data across engineering, accounting, and land systems
- Analyze production, LOE, revenue, and capital data to identify trends
- Build dashboards and reports (Power BI, Spotfire, Excel)
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and asset performance analysis
- Collaborate with engineering, accounting, land, and IT teams
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve workflows
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field
- 2 to 5 years of data analysis experience, preferably in oil & gas or another asset-intensive industry
- Proficiency in SQL and relational databases
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, Power Query; VBA a plus)
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Spotfire, or similar)
- Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting E&P engineering or operations teams
- Exposure to economic modeling, forecasting, or reserves processes
- Experience integrating data across accounting, production, and engineering systems
- Familiarity with upstream datasets (production, LOE, revenue, drilling, reserves
