Compensation Range:

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

The Nursing Practice Sr. Data Analyst Collects, analyzes and reports management and patient outcome data to support operational decisions both day to day as well as for long term projects focused on improving patient outcomes. The analytic reports provide vital information to support Nursing Practice’s strategic goals as well as hospital-based quality performance plans. The Sr. Data Analyst explains variances and trends to nursing leadership and interprets and analyzes data. The analyst creates nursing leadership dashboards to facilitate variance and trend explanations. The Sr. Data Analyst takes the lead in managing the NDNQI Data as well as Nursing’s RL event reporting system. The Sr. Data Analyst serves as a resource for nursing leaders with less experience managing and analyzing data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participates in new quality initiative development or other activities as assigned
  • Identifies, analyzes, interprets data trends, and  patterns from a vast dataset of thousands of rows from the Epic-Hospital Event Reporting System                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  
  • Performs a deep dive analysis using statistical techniques to identify and categorize RL data based on event severity hospital-wide with the goal of improving nursing quality and patient outcomes.
  • Utilizes findings to identify trends, patterns, and insights impacting patient outcomes.
  • Drives key projects related to RL findings to completion, ensuring alignment with the Nursing and Hospital key strategic metrics.
  • Participates in new quality initiative development or other activities as assigned
  • Collaborates with nursing and hospital teams to clarify data needs and provides analytic support through the development of user-friendly interactive dashboards.
  • Utilizes Tableau and PowerBI tools to enable easy access and interpretation on a variety of technical and non-technical data sets
  • Presents findings and recommendations to Hospital and Nursing stakeholders, including Nursing Practice Executive Directors, and Nurse Managers in a clear and concise manner.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on data-related questions and issues within the organization.
  • Develops and implements data tools to facilitate required documentation standards related to regulatory compliance and Department of Health findings.
  • Acquires. Collects, and integrates data from a variety of sources including RL Data, Pharmacy Bar Code Scanning Data, and NDNQI data to develop workflows and processes utilized by nursing stakeholders.
  • Responsible for entering and analyzing NDNQI data
  • Prepares analytic NDNQI reports for nursing leaders.
  • Explains NDNQI reports to nursing leaders.
  • Maintains the NDNQI Portal and data relevant to Magnet and Patient Quality Outcomes
  • Serves a Site-Coordinator  for NDNQI Portal managing user access, data entry for nursing indicators creating monthly and quarterly reports for Nursing Directors and Managers
  • Analyzes NDNQI Data and identifies opportunities for efficiencies through data-driven trends and insights.
  • Participates in operational and nursing leadership meetings to assist with identifying, implementing, and evaluating opportunities.
  • Builds data reports and models that capture a wide range of daily operation needs utilization.
  • Mentors and teaches Nursing Leadership Staff providing guidance on best practices in data analysis.
  • Develops predictive models based on Department of Health findings.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant experience required
  • Master’s degree in computer science, data informatics or related field preferred
  • 5 years’ experience with data systems/reporting functions required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manger required
  • Strong problem solving skills with a strategic mindset required
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar required
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and predictive modeling required
