Position Overview
The Manayunk Development Corporation, also known as Manayunk.com, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Marketing & Events Intern. In this role, you will report to the Marketing Manager and the Events Manager and assist with a variety of tasks across marketing, public relations, event planning, and social media. This internship is ideal for a student working toward a degree in marketing, advertising, communication, or hospitality. The internship program engages one student per season, with the Fall Event Marketing Internship typically running from early September through mid-late December based on academic schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Planning: Assist with fall events such as Out & About, Manayunk Fall Fest, Halloween in MNYK, the Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Holiday Light Nights. Support includes pre-planning, vendor/sponsor outreach, and day-of-event logistics.
- Marketing: Update event information on the Manayunk.com website, contribute content to the quarterly Manayunk Magazine, MNYK Blog, and newsletter by writing and editing articles.
- Public Relations: Assist with press outreach, maintain event calendar listings, manage content and design of monthly newsletters via Constant Contact, and help track press for Manayunk events.
- Social Media: Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Manager to manage platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. Create unique content, schedule posts, oversee ongoing campaigns, and contribute ideas for new content.
- Utilize tools such as Canva, Constant Contact, and Hootsuite; assist in gathering content for the weekly newsletter; conduct social media market research; and communicate with local businesses.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in marketing, advertising, communication, or hospitality.
- A self-starter who performs well in collaborative environments.
- A creative individual capable of working in a dynamic team setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to grammar and spelling.
- An outgoing personality, comfortable interacting with business owners and event vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable commuting to the office and working on-site.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in marketing, event planning, and/or social media marketing.
