About the Job:
 

The Red Hat Ecosystem Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer to join us at our Pune location.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems using modern Java technologies. You will work closely with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to build high-quality microservices-based applications.

As part of a fast-paced engineering environment, you will contribute to building robust APIs, improving system performance, and enabling seamless deployment on cloud-native platforms like OpenShift.


What you will do?

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot

  • Build and manage microservices-based architectures

  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs

  • Work with PostgreSQL for data modeling, queries, and performance optimization

  • Deploy and manage applications on OpenShift / Kubernetes platforms

  • Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code (unit/integration testing)

  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with a strong sense of ownership

  • Continuously improve system scalability, performance, and reliability

     

What you will bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in backend development

  • Strong hands-on experience with:

    • Java

    • Spring Boot / Spring Framework

    • Microservices architecture

    • REST APIs

  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (OpenShift/Kubernetes/Docker)

  • Understanding of SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Good communication and collaboration skills

     

Following are considered as a plus:

  • Exposure to AI-powered developer tools like Cursor, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, etc.

  • Experience with cloud platforms

  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture (Kafka, messaging systems)

  • A proactive engineer with a strong ownership mindset

  • Someone who enjoys solving complex backend problems

  • Passion for learning new technologies, including AI-assisted development workflows

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
