Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Head of C&D AI to lead Hitachi, Ltd.'s strategic initiatives in the application of Artificial Intelligence across our Construction and Development (C&D) sectors. This role will drive innovation, foster technological advancements, and ensure the successful integration of AI solutions to optimize operations, enhance decision-making, and create new value propositions within C&D.

Job Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a comprehensive AI strategy for Hitachi's C&D business units, aligning with global corporate objectives and market trends.
* Lead and mentor a team of AI researchers, engineers, and data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
* Identify, evaluate, and prioritize high-impact AI opportunities within construction planning, project management, asset optimization, predictive maintenance, safety, and smart city development.
* Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of AI projects, from conceptualization and research to development, deployment, and performance monitoring.
* Collaborate closely with business leaders, product managers, and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical requirements and deliver scalable AI solutions.
* Establish and maintain strong partnerships with external academic institutions, research organizations, and technology vendors to stay abreast of cutting-edge AI advancements.
* Ensure ethical considerations, data privacy, and regulatory compliance are embedded into all AI development and deployment processes.
* Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and ROI of AI initiatives within the C&D sector.
* Communicate complex AI concepts and strategies effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
* Manage budget and resource allocation for AI projects within the C&D domain.

Job Qualifications
* Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
* 15+ years of progressive experience in AI/ML development and leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a senior management or executive position leading AI teams.
* Proven track record of successfully conceptualizing, developing, and deploying impactful AI solutions, preferably within industrial, engineering, construction, or related sectors.
* Deep expertise in various AI methodologies, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and predictive analytics.
* Strong understanding of the construction and development industry, including challenges, opportunities, and relevant data sources.
* Experience with major cloud AI platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with open-source AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
* Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire high-performing technical teams.
* Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience managing large-scale projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams in a global organization.
* Knowledge of ethical AI principles and data governance best practices.
