About The Role
As a newly public-backed company, our financial operations are evolving rapidly, and we need a dedicated expert to bridge the gap between our People, IT, and Finance teams. Reporting to our Senior Accounting Manager, you will own our global payroll accounting and take the lead on a newly established software labor capitalization process that directly impacts our bottom line.
What Your Day Might Look Like
It is the second business day of the month, which means you are deep into the core month- end close. You start your morning by pulling the latest global payroll data from Workday, partnering closely with the People team to ensure all new hires, transfers, and compensation changes across North America, Europe, and APAC are accurately captured. You translate this data, ensuring it flows perfectly into NetSuite for the management team to review.
In the afternoon, you jump on a call with our IT and Engineering leaders. We have recently implemented a new policy to capitalize software development labor costs, and you are taking the reins from an external contractor who set up the initial framework. You ask the right questions to understand exactly which development projects qualify, ensuring our accounting reflects the true value of the technology we are building.
Before logging off, you review your journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, knowing that your meticulous work over these first three days of the month sets the foundation for our broader corporate reporting to CBRE.
What You Will Own
- Global payroll accounting across North America, Europe, and APAC, ensuring accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Management of software development labor capitalization process, partnering with the Digital team to ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Month-end close responsibilities for your dedicated areas, hitting strict three-day internal deadlines before moving into post-close analysis.
- Collaboration with the People team to ensure all employee lifecycle changes are reflected in the correct accounting period.
- Development and refinement of internal controls and procedures to help the accounting function achieve and maintain SOC compliance.
You Will Love This Role If
- You thrive when given full ownership of a process and enjoy rolling up your sleeves to understand the 'why' behind the numbers.
- You are a natural translator who loves speaking with non-finance partners, turning complex HR and IT activities into clear accounting outcomes.
- You find energy in a condensed, high-stakes month-end close where accuracy and speed matter.
- You enjoy taking a newly built framework, learning its intricacies, and finding ways to make it more efficient over time.
- You are highly communicative and responsive, valuing strong team connection even when working in a remote or hybrid setup.
This Role Is Probably Not for You If
- You prefer a fully established, unchanging playbook where you never have to build or refine a process.
- You find a condensed three-day month-end close overwhelming and prefer a more drawn- out reporting timeline.
- You prefer to stay siloed in your accounting software rather than actively speaking with cross-functional partners in HR and IT.
- You struggle to explain accounting principles without relying heavily on technical financial jargon.
What We Are Looking for
- 4 to 6 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a multi-entity or global environment.
- Direct experience managing global payroll accounting processes.
- Proficiency in accounting systems like NetSuite and Workday, alongside advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, with exposure to software capitalization highly preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or progress toward a CPA is a strong plus).
Compensation
The base salary for this role is $90,000-$95,000, depending on experience, skills, and role alignment. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus and participation in our long-term incentive program. But compensation is only part of the story.
At Industrious, we believe a good workplace supports the whole person. Not just the work they do. Our benefits are designed to give people the stability, flexibility, and room to grow that make a career sustainable.
Our Benefits May Include
- Heavily subsidized medical, dental, and vision plans to support you and your family
- Flexible paid time off, to maintain balance
- Paid parental leave to help you welcome a new child and focus on what matters most
- Annual professional development grants so you can keep learning and growing
- 401(k) retirement savings program to support long-term financial wellbeing
- Wellness initiatives and additional employee support programs
- Specific benefits may vary by role, location, and eligibility requirements
