Senior Mechanical Engineer, High Rise and Complex Buildings, Malaysia

 Responsibilities 

  • Design and specify mechanical systems for buildings, such as air conditioning, mechanical ventilation, active fire protection systems, cold water and sanitary plumbing systems, swimming pool filtration system, gas utility etc.
  • Prepare design related documents, design calculations, design brief, technical drawings, submissions to authority etc.
  • Manage the tender process, including cost estimations, tender documents, technical specifications, tender evaluation and tender reporting.
  • Attend client-consultant, site and technical meetings.
  • Manage contract administration according to PAM or IEM contracts, including construction monitoring and site supervision.
  • Review contractors’ technical submissions of equipment / materials / drawings.
  • Conduct site inspections of installations.
  • Witness testing and commissioning of equipment or systems.
  • Work with the engineers of other disciplines, clients’ project team, external consultants to coordinate and detail project design requirement.
  • Be responsible for any duties that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a registered Graduate Engineer or Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
  • At least 5 years of building design experience in multidisciplinary / M&E consultancy firm(s).
  • Conversant in Malaysian building legislation, Malaysia Standards, regulations, Code of Practices, local council requirements, BOMBA requirements, NFPA, ASHRAE, authority submission guidelines and processes.
  • Positive work attitude and willing to learn.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity in high rise and complex buildings is preferred.
  • Suitable applicants with more extensive experience and deeper technical knowledge will be considered for more senior positions.
