Patent Prosecution Attorney

An Intellectual Property firm in northern CA is looking for a patent attorney for patent prosecution work.

The firm is looking for the best quality and the brightest patent attorneys to draft and prosecute patent applications.  The firm is highly focused on computer-related technologies.  Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications as a patent attorney; a background in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering; and excellent writing and communication skills.  Only candidates with CS, CE, or EE background will be considered.

Candidates will be required to provide (1) undergraduate transcripts, (2) law school transcripts, and (3) a patent application and office action response that are drafted solely by the candidate.

The firm offers a comprehensive benefit package and an excellent compensation package:  Candidates with less than 3 years of experience receive a salary that starts out at 135K for the first year.  The offer will take into account the candidates’ background and experience.  Candidates are eligible for bonus if they reach 1800 billable hours in a calendar year.  There is a 25K guaranteed bonus the first calendar year if 2000 hours are billed.  After 3 years of experience as an attorney, candidates are compensated based on what they bill, i.e., production-based.

JD from a top 100 law school

CS, CE, or EE background required

Passed the CA bar

Passed the Patent bar

Ties to CA are a plus
