Position Summary:
The Environmental Analyst will work closely with our federal partners to prepare Environmental Assessments (EAs), update Programmatic Biological Assessments (BAs), and Findings of No Practicable Alternatives (FONPAs).
This position has full remote potential, but preference will be given to candidates who are able to report weekly to the office. Our office currently operates on a hybrid schedule that requires at least one office day and up to four remote days per week. This hybrid schedule is subject to change. Relocation expenses are not available. Overnight travel will be required.
Essential Job Duties:
Work independently and collaboratively to prepare all sections regulatory documents, such as Environmental Assessments, Biological Assessments, Finding of No Practicable Alternatives, and Environmental Baseline Surveys.
Compile and analyze documents and data pertaining to potentially affected resources within the project/action area. Conduct on-site surveys and attend project meetings.
Coordinate with federal partners to discuss proposed projects/actions, affected resources, and other project components to determine how to best approach compliance documents.
Analyze potential impacts to resources and ensure regulatory requirements for the projects/actions are met.
Conditions of Employment:
Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).
Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance; required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check.
Supervision:
This position does not supervise.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S./B.A. in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Biology, or a related field
At least three years of relevant professional experience in environmental analysis
Professional experience ensuring compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and/or Endangered Species Act (or related regulations)
Professional experience preparing or reviewing Environmental Assessments (or similar multidisciplinary compliance documents)
Demonstrated technical writing ability, clear communication skills, and attention to detail
Knowledge of resource types often considered in National Environmental Policy Act analysis (e.g., air quality; water, geological, cultural, and biological resources; land use; noise, infrastructure; public health and safety; hazardous materials and wastes; socioeconomics; and environmental justice)
Experience interpreting and concisely summarizing complex information into compliance documents
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Biology, or a related field
Professional experience with the Endangered Species Act, including preparing Biological Assessments
Professional experience with U.S. Forest Service land management plan implementation
Familiar with GIS
Salary Range
