Job summary

The CDW Enterprise Configuration Technician will take a lead role in the day to day running of the CDW Pre stage hosting area within the Configuration Centre. Accountable for the day to day operation of the pre stage environment, including scheduling, power and data availability, resourcing projects, ensuring equipment is available to provide services. There will also be some responsibility for other enterprise projects and for some internal infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Liaising with the Configuration Centre Technical lead to define priorities, objectives and strategy
  • Work with Config trainer to design training packages that can help to raise the skill levels of other technicians in the enterprise space.
  • Provide a level of technical support for other enterprise opportunities and support Consultant technicians with any required technical understanding for new engagements.
  • Document and maintain suitable technical documentation in relation to development following company standards for Pre stage and other enterprise implementations.
  • Identify and develop good working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Configuration Centre Consultancy team to ensure requirements are accurately captured, expectations are managed and realised solutions are supportable
  • Maintain, and improve, skills in appropriate technologies through training and personal development.
  • Identify opportunities within enterprise services offerings for improvement and automation opportunity.
  • Ensure that customers receive the highest level of quality
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the leadership team.
  • It may be necessary on occasion for this individual to work beyond their regularly scheduled shift

  • To always look for improvement ideas to help the productivity and efficiency of the department

What we expect of you

  • Knowledge and experience of configuring the below is a key advantage, some will be essential:
  • Cisco
  • Fortinet
  • Arista
  • Palo Alto
  • Aruba
  • HPE
  • Virtualisation technologies
  • Fundamental architectural understanding of hyper convergence (Nutanix, Hyperflex edge etc….)
  • Fundamental architectural understanding of ACI (Cisco)
  • Understanding of scripting languages to help support automation opportunities

Other experience desired

  • Minimum CCNA qualification learning towards a higher qualification (CCNP etc…)
  • Previous experience in a Pre Staging environment extremely advantageous. Experience of device deployment on scale is advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience of SQL databases and reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience architecting, documenting and deploying IT infrastructure.
  • Previous use and understanding of MS Visio is essential
  • Proven analytical skills and the ability to solve problems and feedback to others
  • Ability to share knowledge with others to aid team development
  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to keep focus on quality
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Ability to quickly learn about new technology and keep pace with an ever-changing industry and help communicate to the wider team
  • Ability to show flexibility to help the changing needs of the department
