Senior Technical Program Manager

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Monitor and track delivery status across multiple teams and projects.
• Promote accountability towards sustainable program delivery.
• Manage open issues; assess and manage program risks.
• Manage dependencies across teams and groups; highlight trade‑offs; facilitate workshops to resolve them.
• Facilitate effective, timely, and transparent decision‑making practices.
• Ensure consistency in planning, documentation, and core practices (including cycle planning) to sustain healthy velocity.
• Facilitate continual‑improvement rituals that lift the effectiveness of product development and engineering teams.
• Build a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Build partnerships with cross‑functional teams to influence decisions, drive alignment and prioritization; actively collaborate with engineering.
• Partner with Group leadership to deliver Canva’s highest‑priority, complex, multi‑disciplinary initiatives.
• Understand technical solutions, discuss trade‑offs, and work with engineering to identify and mitigate risks.
• Drive Agile delivery with deep technical understanding; shape scope, estimates, and trade‑offs with engineering.
• Use Jira and delivery/reporting tooling to maintain accurate delivery data and provide program visibility.
• Leverage Feature Control Platform and pilot/experimentation frameworks to un phased rollouts with clear hypotheses and success metrics.
• Apply AI agents to streamline TPM workflows (status aggregation, risk/issue triage, action synthesis) and drive productivity uplift.

China and International ‑market scope you’ll lead

• Orchestrate programs that require China and International market considerations.
• Support compliance and data‑residency programs that affect China users and services (e.g., UV data residency and consent changes).
• Coordinate local payments/platform integrations and partners (e.g., Alipay and WeChat Pay).
• Collaborate with the International engineering team based in China and regional leadership to deliver cross‑border initiatives.
• Work closely with International subgroups (Localisation; International Marketing & Growth) to make Canva truly local in China and International markets.

You're probably a match if

• A minimum of 5 years TPM experience at an established and complex organization
• Domain experience working with AI and R&D areas
• Deep understanding of Agile product development processes
• Experience working with Product Managers, Designers and Engineers to deliver key company initiatives
• Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
• A natural communicator who leads through influence, not authority
• A love for navigating complexity and tackling ambiguous problems 
• Process-oriented but flexible in approach
• Introspective focus to continually improve the effectiveness of Canva’s teams
• Dedicated to personal growth and improving in your craft as a TPM 
• Leadership capability to ensure clarity, alignment and accountability to achieve our Crazy Big Goals
• Ability to think strategically but also able to make crazy big goals happen. This role will be very hands-on!
