Job description

Our client Sinotec is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer - Solar & Transmission Projects in

Sinotec seeks a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with substantial experience in solar and transmission line projects to lead and manage technical operations. The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of 10 years of experience and will be responsible for planning, executing, and supervising solar projects ranging from 5MW to 10MW, as well as transmission line projects between 110 kV and 220 kV. This role involves overseeing a team of 20 professionals and ensuring the successful delivery of projects primarily based in Kenya, with potential involvement in international projects located in Somalia and Zambia. Proficiency in project scheduling and CAD software is essential, along with strong commercial acumen and excellent English communication skills. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that project goals are met efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The position demands strong coordination for complex project environments, involving large-scale solar installations of up to 55MW and transmission infrastructure projects, including a 330 kV transmission line. Experience working on overseas projects is advantageous, and the candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational abilities to manage resources effectively and foster a collaborative team atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for solar projects from 55MW up to 160MW, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the execution of transmission line projects ranging from 110 kV to 350 kV, ensuring technical accuracy and timely completion.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 20 electrical engineers and technical staff, providing guidance, performance feedback, and fostering a productive work environment.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling software, coordinating tasks to meet milestones and deadlines.
  • Utilize CAD software to create and review electrical schematics and layouts, ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements and client expectations.
  • Oversee commercial affairs related to electrical engineering projects, including budgeting, cost control, procurement, and contract management.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within broader project frameworks.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies to promote a safe work environment.
  • Conduct technical assessments and risk analyses to identify potential challenges and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate project progress, issues, and solutions to senior management and clients.
  • Coordinate with international teams involved in projects located in Somalia and Zambia, ensuring effective communication and adherence to project standards. Selected Candidates will be stationed at Kenya, but have to travel frequently for Site visits at Somalia and Zambia.
  • Drive continuous improvement by applying lessons learned and innovative engineering solutions to optimize project outcomes.
