Christian Academy of Laurel (formerly First Baptist School of Laurel), located in Laurel, MD, serves students in PreK through 8th grade. CAL is looking to fill teacher positions for the 2026-2027 school year. A Bachelor's Degree, at minimum, is required for K-8 teachers. Pay is determined according to years of teaching experience.

We are also accepting applications for aides and for substitute teachers. A bachelor's degree is not required for subs or aides.

Our mission is to partner with parents in pointing their children to Jesus as Savior, the Bible as God's Word, and preparing them to reach adulthood with the spiritual and intellectual competence needed to impact their culture for Christ. Additionally, as a ministry of First Baptist Church of Laurel, applicants will be theologically examined to ensure alignment with the faith and practices of FBCL.

Job Responsibilities

• Create and follow developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children's social, emotional, and academic growth.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom.
• Communicate professionally with families.
• Ability and desire to teach children of various ability levels; incorporating differentiation into lessons
• Incorporate technology into the curriculum
• Develop formal and informal assessments to measure student mastery
• Analyze student data regularly and use it to guide planning and instruction
• Attend parent meetings as needed
• Attend all faculty and staff meetings
• Follow all COMAR/OCC regulations and school policies.

Job Qualifications

School Aged Teacher

• Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree, preferably in an education-related field
• Experience teaching students is preferred.
• Proficiency with technology and multimedia equipment such as interactive white boards, LCD projector, Google Classroom, and document camera preferred
• Background check & fingerprinting
• CPR/First Aid (or willing to obtain)

Preschool Teacher

• Preschool 90-Hour Certificate OR CDA in Preschool OR Associate/Bachelor's in Early Childhood or related field
• Background check & fingerprinting
• CPR/First Aid (or willing to obtain)
