This is professional services work involving vocational rehabilitation. Responsibilities include interviewing and counseling persons with disabilities, implementing, and monitoring client programs. Work is performed under general supervision.
Develops and implements rehabilitation program, and monitors and reports on client progress in order to ensure client needs are met.
Evaluates client information, services available, and program needs in order to establish a client/counselor relationship, develop a treatment plan, and identify implementation method.
Develops and manages a client budget plan in order to ensure effective delivery of services and use of available funds.
Consults with public school personnel on vocational rehabilitation in order to provide resources, guidance and assistance.
Contacts business and industry personnel in order to advocate for program and client needs, offer incentives and assistance, and place clients in jobs.
Counsels clients in rehabilitation to develop supportive relationships, and advise and elicit feedback on client goals.
Explains fair hearing and appeal rights and negotiates solutions and agreements with clients in order to meet client needs, agency goals, and minimize appeals.
Position may be subject to fingerprinting.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Knowledge of disabilities.
- Knowledge of rehabilitative services and programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Skills or knowledge required:
- Knowledge of agency standard operating procedures.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor rehabilitation programs.
- Ability to interview and counsel clients.
Minimum Qualifications
A four (4) year combination of training, experience, and/or education in vocational rehabilitationprogram development and implementation.
