Discover Impactful Work:
The Buyer III has overall responsibility for an assigned portfolio of suppliers for our Hillsboro site. We build ion and electron beam assemblies, used in laboratory and science applications worldwide, and dual-beam wafer cutting systems that are integral to the semiconductor industry.
As a Buyer III at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will be responsible for ensuring reliable and cost-effective supply chain operations while contributing to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. You will manage strategic supplier relationships, drive procurement initiatives, and collaborate across functions to optimize material availability and inventory levels. This role provides opportunities to guide continuous improvement projects, implement cost savings strategies, and develop effective solutions for supply chain challenges.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will analyze requirements, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure on-time delivery of materials critical to our manufacturing operations. You will apply analytical and negotiation skills to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions while maintaining high quality standards. This position enables you to contribute to operational excellence while developing your expertise in a dynamic environment.
Keys to Success:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management preferred.
Experience
- 5 years of experience working in Purchasing department in a highly flexible environment required.
- 2 years of experience in management of critical supply chain for High-mix/Low-volume production .
- Previous Buyer II or III level experience, working with high-level suppliers.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Experienced in continuous improvement.
Proficient use of SBM (Serena Business Management) or similar systems.
Strong analytical skills.
In depth experience with inventory, purchasing, and supplier management activity.
Experience working with ERP systems (knowledge of QAD a plus but not required).
Strong organization and time management skills.
Able to re-set priorities as corporate objectives change.
Team and results-oriented individual.
An ability to think strategically and operate in a matrixed structure in order to improve business opportunities.
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong English proficiency.
Experience/knowledge of Microsoft Outlook/Microsoft Excel/Microsoft Word.
Microsoft Access and Microsoft BI experience is a plus.
