JOB SUMMARY

We offer students the opportunity to spend a summer working at one of Securitas' US Operating Centers. This internship program offers undergraduate students with real-world application of business within the North America Shared Services organization. You will participate in an 11-week internship located in Parsippany, New Jersey for 32-40 hours per week and working a hybrid schedule.
As an AI & Automation Intern, you will support enterprise AI driven automation, data insights, and cloud infrastructure initiatives. This role is ideal for a student who enjoys building practical solutions that combine bots, workflows, data, and infrastructure automation in Microsoft Azure. You will work in a real production Azure environment alongside cloud architects and automation engineers, contributing to Node.js services, Power Automate workflows, Azure Bots, Cosmos DB, Power BI dashboards, and Infrastructure as Code using Bicep.
Successful completion of the internship program could lead to a return internship for the following summer or employment at the organization in the future.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
AI & Workflow Automation
- Build and enhance automation workflows using Power Automate
- Support Node.js services and APIs hosted in Azure App Service
- Assist with conversational experiences using Azure Bot Service (adaptive cards, routing, logging)
- Validate and persist workflow data using Azure Cosmos DB
- Help integrate AIenabled decision support into automation flows
AI Data Visualization & Insights (Power BI Focus)
- Design and build Power BI dashboards that surface:
- automation throughput and outcomes
- timing and SLA metrics (immediate vs scheduled execution)
- trends, exceptions, and operational insights
- Transform automation and AI data into clear, businessready visualizations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine dashboards for usability and clarity
Infrastructure Automation (Bicep / InfrastructureasCode)
- Assist in developing and maintaining Bicep templates to deploy Azure resources such as:
- Azure App Service
- Azure Cosmos DB
- Azure Botrelated components
- Supporting identity and configuration resources
- Help standardize repeatable dev/test environment deployments
- Learn how application code, automation workflows, and infrastructure fit together
- Document infrastructure modules and deployment patterns
Engineering & Delivery Practices
- Contribute via Gitbased workflows (branching, PRs, reviews)
- Assist with troubleshooting automation, bot, or data issues
- Create concise technical documentation and runbooks
- Participate in design and review sessions with senior engineers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY
Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED
Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, data science, engineering, or a related field
Experience with JavaScript and basic Node.js
Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):
Familiarity with JSON, REST APIs, and data structures
Strong interest in AI, automation, and cloud technologies
Ability to learn quickly and work independently with guidance
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience or coursework involving:
- Power Automate
- Power BI (strongly preferred)
- Azure App Service
- Azure Cosmos DB
- Azure Bot Service
- Exposure to InfrastructureasCode (Bicep, ARM, Terraform)
- Experience visualizing or analyzing operational data
- GitHub projects, labs, or hackathons demonstrating automation or cloud work

How AI enabled automation is built and operated in an enterprise Azure environment
Designing and managing Power Automate workflows at scale
Building Power BI dashboards tied to real operational systems
Cloud native application patterns using Node.js and Azure App Service
Infrastructure automation using Bicep
How bots, workflows, data, and infrastructure come together in production
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
