Position Overview
AE Works is seeking an experienced registered Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead the design and construction of power, lighting, and telecommunication systems for building projects, including new construction and renovations. You'll work closely with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure high-quality deliverables at each stage while providing technical advice and solutions to meet project goals.
Location: Arlington, VA or Pittsburgh, PA with travel to client and project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Design: Lead the design and construction administration of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems; ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations while maintaining design efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide technical leadership by applying extensive electrical engineering knowledge including power distribution, lighting design, grounding, and protective systems.
- Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients, architects, and consultants to develop custom electrical solutions that enhance energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Technical Documentation: Lead the development of system specifications, technical reports, narratives, and construction documents.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews to ensure systems are efficient, safe, and meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry advancements; mentor team members and propose innovative solutions.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Opportunity Development & Client Engagement: Support new business opportunities through interviews, presentations, and robust client engagement.
Required Qualifications
- PE license required, with the ability to pursue additional state licenses as needed.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in architectural engineering or electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- 8+ years of related electrical engineering experience in building projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-based and mobile technologies for collaboration; proficiency in Revit and other relevant design software.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities with a commitment to actively contributing to the company culture.
