Job description
The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Operator - Paste Plant to be responsible for timely identification and reporting of equipment issues, accurate completion of daily logs and shift notes, and monitoring paste quality to meet design specifications. The individual is responsible for managing QA/QC testing to ensure quality paste delivery, documenting relevant data, supporting the maintenance team, and conducting daily equipment checks. Effective communication with supervisors and the process plant operations team is essential to ensure proper paste fill generation and consistent tailings supply. The role also requires maintaining continuity within work teams and participating in site training and development for professional growth.
- Conform to the safety standards, operation procedures and security protocols as set, including attendance to safety and role related training/inductions.
- Report any safety, environmental hazards, and security incidents to supervisor.
- Collaborate with supervisors and process plant operations team to ensure proper paste fill generation and consistent tailings feed supply.
- Diligently operates Paste Back Fill Plant in accordance with Paste Fill Note.
- Monitors operational parameters, adjusts, and carries out minor maintenance of process equipment when directed.
- Ensure that the products produced meet all specifications set by the Metallurgy and UG Mine Paste Backfill Engineers.
- Maintain continuity of work teams and participate in site training and development for professional growth.
- Maintains detailed reports of operation completing and updating log sheets, logbooks, and checklists accurately and on time each shift.
- Report to supervisor any damage to equipment or at-risk situation that could lead to plant shutdown; and
- Always maintain excellent standards of housekeeping on every area in accordance with the Work Area Standard
This role reports to Supervisor - Paste Plant.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Monitors and adjusts equipment settings to maintain optimal performance.
- Identifies and resolves minor operational issues without supervision.
- Documents operational data accurately and reports deviations.
- Conducts routine quality inspections and tests on paste materials and final products.
- Identifies root causes of quality issues and recommends corrective actions.
- Shares process updates and adjustments with team members in a timely manner.
- Listens actively to feedback and applies it to improve performance.
- Prepares and delivers clear operational reports during team meetings.
- Recognizes common hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses that occur at work and responds effectively to mitigate harm to individuals and damage to property.
- Uses or operates basic emergency response equipment, machines, and vehicle when necessary.

Educational Background:
- High School Graduate/Trade Qualification
Work Experience and Background:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a processing operations environment
- Previous experience operating SCADA or DCS process control systems
- Previous exposure to laboratory and analytical equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Driver’s License & National Certificate Level II in Driving
- Must be able to achieve set goals, including utilizing and organizing given resources.
- Paste Plant operating experience is an advantage
