Job description

Meet the Team

This team develops software consistent with Cisco ‘Design Thinking Principles’ with a focus on simplification and UX (User Experience) at its core, using secure coding practices, ensuring user privacy, and following software development best practices. Partners with other teams including design and product management to create the right solution for the customers. Creates technical design documentation to be used by the team as well as contributing to user documentation to be used by end users. Debugs and addresses software issues during development and in production systems to support customers. Brings new ideas for product innovation and helps improve software development processes.

Your Impact

You’ll work closely with a team of experts focused on Cisco’s Enterprise Routing portfolio, including ASR1k, ISR4k, Cat8k, ENCS, CSR Cloud Services Router, CSP Cloud Services Platform, Cisco G2 secure router family and SDWAN. You’ll gain deep insight into Cisco product functionality and play a key role in influencing and driving service improvements.

What You’ll Do

  • Handle complex customer escalations and drive critical outage resolution across enterprise and service provider environments.
  • Collaborate with TAC, engineering BU, and product teams for defect identification and fixes.
  • Leads postmortems and reviews root cause analysis, ensures on call coverage.
  • Deliver Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), corrective actions, and long-term recommendations.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex routing failures on IOS-XE and related platforms.
  • Expert on multiple functional components
  • Provide architecture-level guidance and expert troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a results-oriented approach while continuously developing technical and leadership skills.
  • Create knowledge artifacts, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and best-practice designs.
  • Mentors peers or others on the team
  • Facilitates/encourages knowledge sharing in the team (e.g., brownbags, demos, design sessions)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors + 8 years of related experience, or Masters + 6 years of related experience, or PhD + 3 years of related experience.
  • Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in primary technical job family and knowledge of related technical job families; has worked extensively with a range of technologies.
  • 4-8 Years of experience in TAC, escalation, or senior network engineering roles
  • Technical expertise at the CCNA/CCNP/CCIE level, with strong hands-on experience in Cisco Routing and SD-WAN.
  • Solid understanding of IP routing technologies; experience analyzing packet captures, logs, debugs, and control-plane events.
  • Demonstrated crisis management, planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proven customer support abilities and experience managing cross-functional activities.
  • A passion for learning and working with the latest Cisco routing technologies (ASR1k, ISR4k, Cat8k, ENCS, CSR, CSP, Viptela SDWAN).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of IP technologies.
  • Solid experience in TAC, escalation, or senior network engineering roles
