Job Summary

Join Highmark Health as a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer and play a crucial role in our agile software engineering team. This position offers you the opportunity to lead the design, development, and support of scalable applications across all digital channels. We seek a proactive and hands-on leader who can guide the technical direction and architecture planning of our projects while also mentoring team members.

In this role, you will oversee critical application support, address complex technical challenges, enhance project delivery, and work collaboratively with diverse teams. You will be the go-to person for stakeholders to ensure the delivery of top-notch solutions that fulfill client needs and product requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong background in a lead engineering role with demonstrated mentorship abilities.
• Expertise in backend development with Python, Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and GitLab.
• Frontend development skills using ReactJS, NextJS, JestJS, and Axios.
• Proficiency in RESTful API design and development.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in the healthcare sector is advantageous.
• Familiarity with BigQuery and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design and create engineering specifications for software applications.
• Write code adhering to coding standards and perform code reviews.
• Develop innovative technical solutions that meet product features while ensuring functionality, scalability, and performance.
• Contribute to an agile team by participating in all scrum ceremonies, assisting with sprint planning, and completing sprints effectively.
• Lead story creation, including acceptance criteria and task assignments, and maintain project status updates.
• Collaborate with principal engineers on complex technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers as necessary.
• Fulfill other assigned duties as needed.

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Experience

Required: 7 years in design and analysis of algorithms and scalable system development.

• 5 years in at least two modern programming languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, a plus), with experience in at least three of the following: React, Angular v4+, NodeJS, NoSQL databases, HTML5, CSS, or cloud services.
• 5 years understanding web services technologies such as REST, HTTPS, and JSON.
• 5 years in general-purpose programming languages including Java, Python (Django/Flask), and others.
• 5 years in defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility.

Preferred

• Previous lead engineering experience with mentorship focus.
• Strong backend development profile with Python and frameworks like Django, Flask.
• Proficiency in relational databases and cloud environments.
• Expertise in CI/CD and frontend technologies.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a shared vision for project outcomes.

Pay Range Minimum: $92,300.00

Pay Range Maximum: $172,500.00

The base salary is contingent on multiple factors, including qualifications and experience.
