Job Summary

The Senior Engineer is responsible for the planning, designing, acquisition, maintenance, and implementation of applications, infrastructure, system integration, and solutions utilizing vendor relationships and internal IT and business partners with guidance and direction only on the most complex situations. This role will specialize in Engineering in a specific infrastructure domain related to Cloud, Infrastructure Tools and Automation, focused on supporting application and business capabilities. This position leads the research, design, validation, and implementation of systems, components, and technologies and provides recommendations for strategies, roadmaps and solutions. This person will ensure the solutions employed across the organization support the needs of evolving business by effectively understanding the changing technology. This individual will also provide oversight and assistance across project design and delivery, ongoing administration including monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring availability and reliability across multiple providers and services.

Distinction: Cloud Engineering – Build, configure, migrate and troubleshoot Cloud based resources, such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS components hosted on MS Azure, which includes Compute, Storage, Virtual Networks, Network and Application Security Groups, Express Route, Direct Connect, ADLS, Identity & Access Management, Backup and DR. This associate is expected to be proficient in monitoring, patching, scripting and automation using PowerShell, Terraform, VS code, DevOps pipeline, and ARM templates. This associate is also expected to understand cost and billing management, maintain standards and manage capacity and performance of the components listed above.

This position is focused on the infrastructure domains listed above but the team works with a variety of platform groups that utilize technologies such as System Center, Tufan, Ansible, , ServiceNow, InfoBlox, Prisma Cloud, Qualys, and Zenoss.

 

Essential Job Functions

• Technology - Independently advises, mentors, and collaborates with team members, stakeholders, vendors on execution strategies and design efforts: including (but not limited to) technology enhancements and capacity planning. Collaborates with cross-functional departments & IT partners to plan and lead integration efforts that align with business/operation initiatives. Work directly with multiple departments and lines of business to support their IT needs.  This includes gathering business requirements to develop solutions. Provide top-tier technical support and responds to escalations from lower level engineers, as necessary, and acts as primary vendor contact for all issues escalated to/from vendors. Works related problems, change management and escalated incidents. Submits RFQ/RFPs, obtains quotes, aggregates documents and proposals, and maintains current and proposed End-of-Life schedules, and tracks progression of key vendors.

• Implement and support Azure components - IaaS such as VM instances, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, Express Route, Vnets, Route Tables, Load Balancers, and PaaS services of Azure Data Lake Store, Azure SQL Database, AKS, ACR, APIM, Azure functions, etc.,

• Extensive experience in migrating workload from on premise to Azure cloud

• Experience in Azure Devops and Pipelines

• Experience on Azure monitor, Azure security center and Management groups/policies

• Should have experience in costing and billing

• Automation and instrumentation. This includes automation of server build and existing run books using scripting languages and platforms such as PowerShell, ARM, Terraform, Azure runbooks and System Center

• Maintains and enhances security related components, such as PKI certificates, CIS Benchmark hardening configurations, and various encryption cyphers.

• Familiarity with meeting requirements from regulations in the financial sector, such as PCI DSS and FDIC.

• Creates/maintains documentation and procedures pertaining to the supported Cloud platforms

• Participates in and/or facilitates project delivery, strategic planning, and development associated with future design, performance, and capacity management with other retail operating organizations.

• Leads and collaborates with other support teams with the remediation of audit and compliance requirements.

• Relationships - Maintains all vendor relationships and partners to support strategy and architectural design efforts for systems and technology that they support. Engages and collaborates with key vendors, carriers, and internal/external partners to support technical planning of mid- to long-term initiatives. This may include planning, build requirements, project management, SOW/BOM legal review, service & maintenance contract review, asset management, training, systems monitoring, programming & tuning.

• Documentation - Creates, reviews, and maintains documentation of deployments, systems, and procedures relating to job/team responsibilities. Produces documentation as requested for internal customers, audits and compliance purposes.  Participates in the approval process. Reports and presents quarterly capacity analyses of licensing, equipment, and utilization.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree Required: Bachelors Degree

• Area of Study: Information Technology, Computer Science

• Years of Work Experience Required: Seven or more in Azure

• Type / focus of work experience required: Systems Administration or Engineering work experience in area of specialization

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience: 5 - 8 years

• Certification in Azure Administrator Associate

• Certification​ Azure Developer Associate
