Job description

The Electronics Test Lab Technician supports verification and validation activities of electronic products, focusing primarily on hardware testing at open-box level (PCBAs and electronic subassemblies).
The role includes designing, executing and documenting hardware-level functional and electrical tests, based on defined technical and quality requirements, and under supervision and approval of the Test Lab Supervisor.

  • Design and develop hardware-level functional and electrical tests for PCBAs and open-box electronic modules, based on defined requirements, specifications and schematics.

  • Define and document test procedures, test sequences and acceptance criteria, ensuring alignment with applicable specifications and internal requirements, and subject to review and approval.

  • Execute electrical and functional hardware tests, including:

    • Supply voltage and current consumption checks.

    • Signal presence and basic signal behavior verification.

  • Configure products under test, including electrical connections, interfaces and test fixtures.

  • Operate standard laboratory equipment (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, electronic loads).

  • Detect and document hardware-related anomalies and deviations during testing.

  • Perform first-level electrical and functional analysis (measurements, comparisons against specifications, symptom identification).

  • Support issue investigation in collaboration with engineering and quality teams, escalating findings with structured technical evidence.

  • Prepare and maintain test documentation and reports, ensuring traceability of test setups, products and results.

  • Support test bench setup and ensure correct use of laboratory equipment.

  • Maintain a safe, organized laboratory environment in line with safety rules.

Soldering and PCBA rework

  • Valued experience in electronic soldering (THT and basic SMD) and basic PCBA rework activities, following approved instructions and standards.

  • Ability to perform functional verification after rework activities.

Electronic CAD tools

  • Ability to navigate and interpret electronic schematics and PCBA designs using CAD tools such as Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics, or equivalent.

  • Focused on analysis and troubleshooting support, not circuit design.

Basic PCBA layout knowledge

  • Basic understanding of PCBA layout concepts (layers, routing, ground planes, test points) to support hardware testing and analysis activities.

Technical English

  • Technical English level sufficient to read and understand datasheets, specifications, and test procedures, and to communicate basic technical information.

Laboratory instrumentation – interpretation

  • Ability to perform and interpret hardware-level electrical measurements (waveforms, current consumption behavior, basic signal quality).

  • Correct use of probes and measurement techniques.

Contribution to test improvement

  • Participation in continuous improvement of test procedures and laboratory setups, providing technical feedback based on hands-on testing experience.

Required Education

  • Higher Vocational Training (Ciclo Formativo de Grado Superior) in:

    • Industrial Electronics

    • Automation and Industrial Electronics

    • Mechatronics

    • Telecommunications Electronics
      (or equivalent technical qualification)

Skills & Competencies

Required

  • Solid knowledge of electronics and electrical fundamentals.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.

  • Experience with electronic laboratory measurement equipment.

  • Structured and methodical approach to hardware test design and execution.

  • Computer skills at user level (Excel, basic technical documentation).

Valued

  • Experience in electronics testing or validation environments.

  • Basic knowledge of communication interfaces.

  • Familiarity with regulated or structured development environments.

Personal Attributes

  • High attention to detail and technical rigor.

  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Ability to work autonomously within defined responsibilities.
