Under general supervision, independently performs a variety of mechanical maintenance duties in the areas of minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, machinist, HVAC and other related fields.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and fixtures, including faucets, sinks, toilets, valves, steam and water piping, and drinking fountains, sewer lines, med‑surg equipment, and critical gas plates/fittings.
- Repair, replace, install, disassemble, and rebuild plumbing components such as showerheads, flushometers, foot control valves, traps, gaskets, and valves.
- Install plumbing systems by cutting, threading, and fitting metal or plastic piping; apply skinner clamps as needed to control steam.
- Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of complex systems. supporting heating, air conditioning, water, steam, and pressurized gases.
- Support general mechanical maintenance for windows, doors, fixtures, valves, pipes, HVAC, kitchen and laundry equipment, and building surfaces.
- Fabricate machine and equipment parts as required.
- Transport, store, and secure tools, equipment, and materials; maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas.
- Guide and explain project requirements to outside contractors and assist during emergency situations (e.g., floods, snow).
- Complete work orders and inspections using the CMS system, including timely updates, creation of child work orders, ITM completion, and maintaining assigned iPad functionality.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year of work experience as a Maintenance Mechanic is required.
- Completion of a trade apprenticeship program.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Operates and maintains all types of electric tools and hand tools, i.e. sanders, drills, power saws, routers lathes, pipe cutting and threading machine, benders, milling machine, soldering iron, snake, drill press, acetylene torch and oxygen acetylene welder.
- Must be able to work every other weekend.
