Responsible for people leadership and readiness functions for the Resource Management Center (RMC) float pool, ensuring a stable, engaged, and high-performing workforce. The manager also provides operational coverage for staffing deployment and centralized scheduling as needed, including participation in required on-call rotation and serving as an escalation resource to maintain staffing continuity. A Brief Overview

The manager also provides operational coverage for staffing deployment and centralized scheduling as needed, including participation in required on-call rotation and serving as an escalation resource to maintain staffing continuity. What you will do

  • Leads day-to-day people management for float pool associates across supported roles, including coaching, engagement, recognition, and professional development.
  • Executes retention and engagement strategies; monitors turnover risk and implements action plans.
  • Oversees onboarding and integration of new float pool hires, including international H1B nurses, through structured check in’s and barrier removal.
  • Builds relationships with unit leaders and nursing operations across all facilities; establishes clear communication expectations and escalation pathways.
  • Provides operational coverage for staffing deployment and centralized scheduling functions as needed to ensure timely fill of coverage gaps and continuity of care.
  • Participates in required on-call rotation; responds to staffing escalations outside normal business hours and coordinates rapid problem-solving with stakeholders.
  • Participates in short and long term planning for program and associate development and resource and budget management.
  • Partners with Clinical Education Services and facility leaders to maintain orientation standards and ongoing competencies for float pool associates while ensuring educational requirements are up to date..
  • Assists in hiring and developing workforce while maintaining own management competencies. Promotes awareness and ensures Associates' compliance with safety standards.


Education Qualifications

  • Required - Bachelor's Degree Nursing
  • Preferred - Master's Degree Nursing

Experience Qualifications

  • Required - 3-5 years General nursing or clinical practice
  • Preferred - Progressive leadership

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated skill in personnel management and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and maintain relationships with individuals and groups of people toward accomplishment of work and organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of staffing, scheduling and productivity standards.
  • Skilled in negotiating with and between individuals and groups of people, including associates, management and providers.
  • Ability to plan schedule tasks, projects and to maintain control of own and others' workflow.
  • Knowledge of developing and implementing long-range plans and programs.
  • Must consistently demonstrate strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel) and experience with hospital scheduling systems.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Required - Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing

Supervision Provided by this Position

  • Manages assigned staff.

Physical Demands

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
