SUMMARY
This position is based in our Calgary office.
The HR Generalist – Canada serves as the primary HR contact for the Canadian workforce, providing hands‑on support across employee relations, onboarding, benefits, performance management, and HR operations. This role ensures compliance with Canadian employment standards while aligning with broader North America HR practices.
In addition to Canada‑specific responsibilities, this role is cross‑trained on North America HR operations and contributes to improving HR workflows through process optimization and the thoughtful use of AI‑enabled tools and automation.
This role requires a hybrid schedule in our Calgary office (3 days in office, 2 days work from home).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Support & HR Operations
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for Canadian employees and managers.
- Provide guidance on HR policies, benefits, performance, and workplace concerns.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment regulations.
- Support onboarding, offboarding, employee data updates, and HR documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records across HR systems and support audits and reporting.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Administer Canadian benefits programs, including enrollments, vendor coordination, and employee support.
- Respond to benefits and leave inquiries and process related system updates in compliance with statutory requirements.
Employee Relations & Performance
- Advise managers on performance management, coaching, and corrective action.
- Support employee relations matters, documentation, and issue resolution.
- Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding processes.
Cross‑Regional HR Support
- Partner with the U.S. HR team to ensure consistent HR operations across North America.
- Provide backup support for U.S. onboarding, employee transactions, and HR projects as needed.
HR Systems, Automation & AI‑Enabled Support
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes through automation and AI‑enabled tools.
- Support AI‑driven solutions such as HR chatbots, workflow agents, and self‑service resources across multiple systems.
- Contribute to process documentation, testing, and adoption of new HR technologies while ensuring responsible data use.
Culture & Engagement
- Support employee engagement initiatives, events, and culture programs.
- Assist with HR communications and related programs that enhance employee experience.
IDEAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred.
- ~5 years of HR experience, preferably supporting a multi-site or regional workforce.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws and HR practices.
- High attention to detail, strong follow‑through, and a commitment to confidentiality.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience collaborating with cross-border HR teams preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office, HRIS platforms, and related systems.
- Ability to build strong professional relationships and navigate employee concerns with integrity and sound judgment.
