Job description
Company Description
Pellucid Network is an innovative buyer-side marketplace and workflow platform, designed to transform how mission-focused procurement is conducted in the AI-driven cloud and marketplace era. We are at the forefront of leveraging cutting-edge technology to empower efficient and transparent procurement processes. Our commitment to enabling seamless and effective workflows makes us a trusted partner in this evolving digital landscape.
Role Description
This is a full-time for a Back End Developer. Preference is DC area or Raleigh-Durham with option for remote work for correct candidate. The Back End Developer will design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and systems, ensuring seamless communication between the server and front-end interfaces. Responsibilities include building efficient and scalable back-end functionalities, troubleshooting and debugging issues, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and adhering to software development best practices. The role also involves applying object-oriented programming principles to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business needs.
What You'll Do
- Architect the SaaS Security Boundary: Design the PostgreSQL database schema, write complex SQL migrations, and implement robust Row-Level Security (RLS) policies and SECURITY DEFINER functions.
- Build AWS Infrastructure: Own the deep, programmatic integration with AWS. You will use the AWS SDK to interact with services like IAM, STS, CloudFormation, AWS Organizations, License Manager, and the Marketplace Catalog API.
- Develop the Backend: Design, build, and maintain the entire backend on the Supabase platform, writing all core business logic in Supabase Edge Functions (Deno/TypeScript).
- Manage Event Systems: Maintain and enhance the real-time PMP event capture system utilizing AWS EventBridge, Lambda, and DynamoDB.
- Own API Integrations: Build and maintain all third-party API integrations, including Stripe for billing and Jira/ServiceNow for approval workflows (including managing webhook handling and OAuth flows).
- Enforce Security Standards: Implement and manage security best practices across the platform, manage secrets in Supabase Vault, and ensure all backend processes are secure and properly audited.
- Drive Scalability & Performance: Ensure the backend is highly scalable, reliable, and performant by continually optimizing database queries and serverless function execution.
Core Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in backend or cloud engineering with a focus on building complex, API-driven platforms.
- Expert-level knowledge of Supabase and PostgreSQL, including advanced SQL, PL/pgSQL functions, and a deep understanding of Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Expert-level knowledge of AWS, specifically with programmatic interaction using the AWS SDK. You must have deep experience with IAM, STS (cross-account role assumption), and CloudFormation.
- Serverless expertise, with proven experience building applications using Supabase Edge Functions (Deno/TypeScript) or similar platforms like AWS Lambda.
- Integration experience, demonstrating the ability to integrate multiple third-party REST APIs, handle complex authentication (OAuth 2.0, API keys), and process webhooks reliably.
- Security-first mindset, with a profound understanding of cloud security principles, especially within a multi-tenant SaaS context.
Bonus Points
- Advanced AWS Experience: Direct, hands-on experience with the AWS Marketplace Catalog API, AWS License Manager, or AWS Organizations.
- AI Tooling Advocate: Demonstrable enthusiasm for learning and integrating AI tools into your daily engineering workflow to improve productivity and backend performance.
- B2B Commerce: Familiarity with cXML or other B2B e-commerce protocols.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Software Development
- Skill in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Programming methodologies
- Familiarity with Front-End Development concepts to ensure effective back-end and front-end integration
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and debugging
- Knowledge of APIs and building scalable architecture is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working within cross-functional teams
Salary
- Base salary: $115,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience
- Equity grant with 4-year vesting and 1-year cliff
- Health and 401k
This is a ground-floor opportunity. As Pellucid's first engineering hire, you will have direct influence over architecture decisions, product direction, and how we scale — the kind of ownership that simply isn't available at larger companies. Your equity grant reflects that early-stage positioning, and as we grow our customer base across both defense and commercial markets, that stake grows with us. We're building something significant, and we want the people who join now to share meaningfully in the outcome and upside.
