Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 365,000 boe/d. We have unconventional and conventional assets exclusively focused in Western Canada and the asset base includes the Weyburn EOR Project. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 making it a unique project within our portfolio. We currently employ 1,200 people, including our valued contract staff.

Position Overview:
As the Operations Accountant, you will be responsible for completing month-end reporting tasks, particularly focused on capital accounting as part of the Conventional Operations Accounting team. This individual will also be responsible for liaising with the operations teams and providing accounting support where necessary.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Complete and review journal entries relating to accounts payable, material transfers and sales taxes on capital related activities.
Gather data or information, complete analysis and provide explanations for capital variances.
Collaborate with the Conventional business unit to coordinate accurate and timely submission of accruals and analysis.
Support the operations reporting function through the analysis of volumes, capital, operating costs, and revenues when required.
Develop and present information to facilitate decision making at various levels within the company.
Assist with the completion of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting including updates to accruals and internal presentations.
Produce data, reports and dashboards using applications such as Microsoft Cubes and Tableau.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and assist with the rollout of Artificial Intelligence applications.
Respond to ad hoc requests for information and analysis, assist with special projects as required.
Primary Qualifications and Skills:
Business Degree.
Accounting Designation is an asset.
Strong understanding of oil and gas related accounting terms and policies.
2 or more years of relevant accounting and oil and gas experience required.
Experience with oil and gas operating and contract agreements.
Experience with Qbyte, OpenInvoice and Aucerna.
Experience generating pivot and other analytical tables in excel.
Experience with MS Cubes and Tableau is an asset.
Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
