This posting is for the Parts Clerk (Administrative Specialist I) position in the Forsyth County Equipment Parts Department in Winston-Salem, NC. This position is involved in purchasing, receiving, storing, and issuing equipment repair parts. This position performs part number research, orders parts from parts and electronic manuals, and enters data of goods issued and goods received in the SAP system for further processing. The applicant in this position must possess physical strength to lift and move heavy objects such as batteries for heavy equipment, grader blades, and large tires.
Additional Expectations:
Ability to operate a forklift to load and unload parts, use hydraulic hose cutting machine, and operate crimping machine. Knowledge of the material and parts used in the repair and maintenance of light to heavy construction equipment. Ability to correctly identify automotive parts through the use of catalogs or physical inspection. Ability to operate fax machine, copier, and computer using SAP system. Must be detail oriented and self-motivated. Ability to work independently, maintain and organize records, and complete all aspects of assigned duties with minimal supervision. Maintains effective working relationships with other employees. Emergency callback is required. Employee will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.
Safety-toed shoes required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC08 / $39,244 – $68,679
Management prefers applicants with the following:
- Demonstrated ability to correctly identify automotive and construction equipment parts through the use of catalogs or physical inspections.
- Experience with physical inventory maintenance procedures (i.e. daily and annual spot checks/counting).
- Experience with data entry, including invoicing and purchasing requisitions.
- Experience with medium-duty truck and forklift operation.
