The Neuroscience Publications Department at Barrow Neurological Institute leads the academic publishing industry in author services focused entirely on the neurosciences. We provide editorial and media expertise to support residents, fellows, attending physicians, and researchers at Barrow. Our illustrators, animators, graphic artists, and video editors work closely with authors to create elegant, accurate visual content using the latest industry standards and technology to achieve higher visibility and faster publication.
Barrow Neurological Institute is seeking a Medical Video Editor to join our team. Our video editors provide neurosurgical video editing support for Barrow Seven Series videos (). The candidate will be trained to review and edit surgical video, record author narration in our dedicated sound booth, and compile edited footage and accompanying text and images into final videos.
In addition, our video editors create academic videos for online journal articles, book chapters, and books authored by residents, fellows, and attending physicians. They edit lecture videos for national and international presentations.
Video editors also create custom Barrow presentation backgrounds using our library of existing illustrations and maintain a catalog of backgrounds available for Grand Rounds and local, national, and international presentations.
Located in Phoenix, AZ, this is an in-person hybrid position with 1 day per week remote.
Individuals must live within driving distance from the Barrow campus. Video editors regularly meet with surgeons, researchers, and faculty during project development. Additionally, our team participates in regular department tours and occasional demonstrations at company events.

REQUIREMENTS
- Strong desire to learn how to edit neurosurgical videos.
- E xperience as a medical science videographer, illustrator or animator, or multimedia specialist preferred
- Demonstrated experience with video and audio recording equipment and editing software (e.g. Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid Media Composer, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in graphic design.
PREFERRED
- Experience in medical visualization, surgery-related fields, anatomy, photo editing, or biomedical communications.
- Experience with academic publishing.
- Experience with Premiere Pro, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and Adobe Audition
- Three years experience as a medical science videographer, illustrator or animator, or multimedia specialist preferred
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Biomedical Visualization, Photographic Sciences, Videography or related field and/or job-related experience required.
- Graduate degree from an accredited program in Biomedical Visualization or Biomedical Communications or Medical Illustration or Animation preferred.
