Department Overview

You will be hired by Rakuten Group, Inc. and expected to be seconded to Rakuten Total Solutions, Inc. (RTS). RTS is a shared services company in the group (100% subsidiary, about 2,000 employees), and provides end-to-end support for corporate operations: planning and launch, consulting, on-site operations, and system/IT setup and operations. You will start in Accounting or Management Accounting at RTS. If you want, you may also work on accounting for Rakuten Group subsidiaries.  In the future, as we participate in the job rotation program offered by the Finance & Accounting Division of Rakuten Group, Inc., you will have the opportunity to build a diverse career in finance and accounting beyond RTS.

Business Planning Section

This recruitment is aimed at filling a vacancy and strengthening our organization. Three years have passed since our founding, and we are now transitioning from our early stages to a growth phase; the goal is to strengthen RTS’s management accounting functions and organizational structure.

Currently, the team consists of two members in their 40s (including a senior manager) and three junior staff members in their 20s. We are seeking a mid-level manager candidate who can take on roles such as coordinating internal team operations and liaising with business divisions, as well as mentoring junior staff.

Position Details

Accounting Section Lead the accounting team and review members’ work while also handling accounting tasks.

Main Responsibilities

• Month-end/quarter-end/year-end closing, reporting, statutory requirements, and audit support
• Review accounting treatment under IFRS, JGAAP, and tax rules
• Plan and improve company-wide accounting operations
• Build workflows and guidelines
• Review accounting for M&A and restructuring
• Train and develop team members

Business Planning Section This department provides support for management decision-making and business unit strategy formulation by conducting detailed forecasting and analysis of RTS revenue and expenses. Through close communication with each business unit, we ensure the timeliness and accuracy of our data.

Main Responsibilities

• Forecasts, financial plans, and management reports
• Financial impact analysis of initiatives
• KPI management
• Budget planning and budget vs. actual management; work with related teams
• Support for new business launches and other planning tasks

Mandatory Qualifications:

Applies to both the Accounting Section and the Business Planning Section

• Basic accounting knowledge (Japan's Nissho Bookkeeping Examination Grade 2 equivalent), who are also interested in sales activities
• 3+ years of accounting work experience
• Basic Office skills (Excel: VLOOKUP, IFS, etc./PowerPoint: charts and tables) and interest in DX/AI
• Good communication skills to work with business divisions and other teams
• Business-level Japanese

• Sales experience
• proactive attitude
• financial or management accounting experience
• tax experience

Business Planning Section

• Experience in managerial roles (such as section chiefs, team leaders, or supervisors) where responsibilities extend beyond one’s own routine duties to include coordinating team members’ work and achieving specific goals or resolving issues in ad-hoc tasks and projects
• Practical experience in financial accounting and management accounting
