Senior Electrical Engineer

Position Summary You will lead electrical engineering work that keeps our manufacturing sites safe, reliable and ready to grow. You will provide technical leadership across projects, maintenance and operations. You will work closely with engineers, operations, contractors and corporate partners. Responsibilities This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Act as the site electrical technical authority for safe operation of high and low voltage systems.
  • Lead electrical design, installation and handover for capital and modification projects.
  • Manage the site electrical maintenance programme and third-party contractors to ensure reliable power delivery.
  • Maintain and improve electrical standards, risk controls and compliance with UK legislation.
  • Support investigations and root cause analysis for electrical incidents and implement preventative actions.
  • Lead energy management and electrical saving initiatives to improve sustainability and cost efficiency.

Why You?

Work arrangement This is an on-site role at the Irvine site in Scotland, 5 days per week.

Manufacturing at the Irvine site is for antibiotics.  It is advised that you take this into consideration when deciding to apply for this position. We cannot accept applications from individuals that have an allergy to penicillin due to Health and Safety.

Basic Qualification We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

  • Engineering qualification: Bachelor’s in electrical engineering.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance or engineering within a process manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with high voltage (HV) system operations and safe working practices.
  • Experience with electrical installations and safe working in potentially hazardous or flammable atmospheres.
  • Experience managing electrical projects, contractors and delivering to target standards and schedules.
  • Knowledge of UK electrical statutory requirements, risk-based electrical safety management and audit readiness.

Preferred Qualification If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Masters in electrical engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (or actively working towards)
  • Senior Authorised Person or City & Guilds 6037 (or equivalent) qualification for HV operations.
  • CompEx or formal hazardous area training and experience.
  • Experience leading or managing a small engineering team.
  • Track record of delivering energy saving or electrical reliability improvement projects.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment with audit and compliance focus.
