Job description
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced, comprehensive medical care and treatment for a wide variety of acute and chronic illnesses in the BOSC Clinic.
- Perform physical exams, evaluate medical histories, and order diagnostic tests to accurately assess patient conditions.
- Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and other medical conditions while adhering to established medical protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals in providing evidence-based care for clinic patients.
- Prescribe and manage medications, including dispensing drug therapies in accordance with applicable medical regulations and standards.
- Educate patients on health maintenance topics, disease prevention, and management of chronic health conditions.
- Assist in monitoring and improving the quality of healthcare services provided in the clinic.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring all medical documentation is in compliance with healthcare regulations and contractual requirements.
- Provide emergency medical care to address critical and urgent health needs of patients.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of public health programs and medical readiness initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in nursing with a valid and current Nurse Practitioner license (must meet US standards).
- 1-3 years of relevant experience providing healthcare as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Comprehensive knowledge of professional medical principles, examination, diagnosis, and treatment techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with English proficiency in both written and oral communication.
- Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid country driver's license and passport.
- Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
- Experience working in a military medical or clinic setting.
- Training and/or experience providing emergency trauma care and treatment in remote locations.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, operational environment with resource constraints.
